Job Summary:
The Immigration Paralegal will provide comprehensive legal support to immigration attorneys and assist in the preparation and management of immigration cases. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting legal research, preparing legal documents, and assisting with case management in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough legal research on immigration laws, regulations, and precedents to support case preparation.
- Prepare and draft legal documents, including immigration forms, affidavits, petitions, and client correspondence.
- Assist attorneys in managing immigration cases, including maintaining case files, tracking deadlines, and ensuring timely submission of documents.
- Communicate with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and documentation.
- Prepare and submit immigration applications, petitions, and supporting documents to relevant authorities.
- Coordinate with external agencies, such as embassies and consulates, to schedule appointments and obtain necessary information.
- Assist attorneys in preparing clients for immigration interviews and hearings.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all immigration cases and activities.
- Stay updated on changes in immigration laws, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and provide accurate advice to clients.
- Collaborate with the legal team to strategize and develop effective immigration case strategies.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of all client information and documents.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a paralegal, preferably in immigration law.
- In-depth knowledge of immigration laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex legal documents and precedents.
- Proficient in conducting legal research using various sources, including online databases and legal publications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise legal documents.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, attorneys, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficient in using legal case management software and other relevant technology.
- High level of professionalism, ethics, and integrity.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
